As an actor, Archie is best known for his comic portrayal of Kenny “Dalglish” Senior in the award-winning Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights. He has also appeared in a number of popular TV shows including another award-winning series, Jimmy McGovern’s The Street, however, it is as a live performer that Archie excels.
Archie emerged onto the alternative comedy scene as Jackie ‘Mr Goodtime’ Valencio with his hilarious parodies and superb vocal impressions. “Funniest thing I’ve seen in ages.” Peter Kay. Archie quickly went on to become a headline act in most of the well-known clubs such as The Comedy Store in Manchester. Sam Avery
Sam Avery wanted to be a rock star. It nearly happened.
Despite being signed up by BMG Records at the age of 17 (he had to resign from his beloved paper round), and subsequent tours with Motorhead and Ice T, the story soon took a familiar turn. Contracts were annulled, money was stolen and before he knew it he was back at the paper shop asking for his fluorescent bag back. He had crap hair anyway.
Subsequent jobs (including a brief stint as a stockbroker) failed to excite him the way the smell of sweat and snakebite had and it wasn’t long before he turned to stand-up.
Friendly and enthusiastic, his observational style instantly puts audiences at ease allowing him to regale them with his tales of everyday life.
Marvyn Dickinson
Marvyn Dickinson is both the star of BBC’s BAFTA nominated DNN. Nando’s New Comedian of The Year 2014. He has that indefinable x-factor some comics have and some don’t and the result is one very warm and incredibly funny act.
